L1A2 SLR (Square Fuller)
Knife bayonet for use on the L1A2 variant of the 7.62 mm. NATO caliber FN–FAL selective-fire rifle. This bayonet was also used on the 9 mm. F1 submachine gun.
L1A2 bayonets were manufactured 1957–1984 at Small Arms Factory, Lithgow, NSW. The earliest examples, such as this one, had the squared fuller and assembly slot like their British and Canadian counterparts. See photos. Unlike British and Canadian L1 bayonets, L1A2 bayonets are completely devoid of any markings.
Australia changed to the unique rounded fuller in 1960.

This particular example is in good condition. blade has fair wear however it is not pitting. Pommel still retains original paint with no dings/dents.
Scabbard is in excellent condition with no dings/dents and retains all of its original paint. a P37 frog (M56 type?) is paired with this bayonet. markings are illegible except manufacture year, 1970.

Square fuller L1A2 bayonets are scarce.

This particular L1A2 bayonet has had a fair shunt at some point. the muzzle ring has a crack through it and the entire cross guard has some play.
