Pattern 1907 - Wilkinson, November 1918 3D^D (Victoria)

Sword bayonet for use with the .303 caliber Short, Magazine, Lee-Enfield No. I Mk. III (SMLE) rifle. The Pattern 1907 bayonet is widely recognized as the bayonet used with the SMLE in both the First World War and World War II.

Millions of P1907 bayonets were produced in Britain, Australia, India, and the USA. This example was made in November 1918 by Wilkinson Sword Company. it was sold to Australia at some point.

This one is in good condition blade retains most of its bright finish, no rust present although pitting is evident. No nicks or chips in the blade. Minor in and out wear as you'd expect.

Ricasso George V Royal Cipher over 1907, 11 '18 (November 1918) over Wilkinson. This could possibly be a PALL MALL. Reverse government acceptance stamp ^ over various inspection marks and X bend test.

Pommel retains its blue, Also stamped with the D arrow, press stud works smoothly. Crosspeice stamped 3 D^D (Victoria)

Grips are in good condition, no chips or chunks missing. Secured with 2 blued bolts.

Scabbard is fair, body is good, although it does have quite a bit of sag, it should be straight and stiff. chape and locket are both in poor condition, the chape just barely hanging on for dear life. both have play.

A nice example of a British made Australian issued bayonet.
