Pattern 1907 - Lithgow 1915 HQ removed, Refurb 5/47

Sword bayonet for use with the .303 caliber Short, Magazine Lee-Enfield No. I Mk. III (SMLE) rifle. The No. I Mk. III rifle was the Australian mainstay during both World Wars and afterward, until superseded by the L1A2 (FN-FAL) selective-fire rifle.

This example was produced at the Lithgow SAF in 1915. originally manufactured with the hook quillon this was officially removed during WW1.

This one is in fantastic condition. Blade retains all of its factory blue, no nicks or chips in blade. apart from minor in and out wear it is faultless.

The ricasso stamps have unfortunately perished, reverse inspection stamps are still present. pommel is stamped R (Refurb) 5/47 (May 1947). The original serial number is still present, which confirms that this example was made in 1915 with a quillon.

Crossguard is stamped 2 D 35363. This was likely stamped 2nd MD however has most probably perished at some point. the crossguard also has the tell tale 'notch' of where the quillon once was.

Grips are standard WW2 slazenger manufacture. these ones being produced in 1945 and dont look like theyve ever been lifted off since they were added in the refurb.

Scabbard is excellent and is rare post war Lithgow manufacture. stamped MA 47, this would've been one of the last P07 scabbards made at Lithgow.

An excellent example of a WW1 era Lithgow bayonet that would've most definitely seen service in both wars. This bayonet has history.

Some cool things came out of Lithgow
