Pattern 1907 - Enfield, April 1909

Sword bayonet for use with the .303 caliber Short, Magazine, Lee-Enfield No. I Mk. III (SMLE) rifle. The Pattern 1907 bayonet is widely recognized as the bayonet used with the SMLE in both the First World War and World War II.

Millions of P1907 bayonets were produced in Britain, Australia, India, and the USA.

This example was produced by Enfield in April 1909, and is in great condition. Blade has no visible rust, although past pitting is evident. no dings or chips out of blade.

Ricasso stamped with Edward VII Royal Cipher. Bellow is 1907 and 4 '09 (April 1909), Left and right of these marks are various reissue marks ('10,'13 and '14). This bayonet got around.

Reverse is the standard markings. Broad arrow ^ acceptance mark, various inspectors marks and the X bend test mark

Grips are in great shape, secured with 2 screws.

Pommel is unit marked 2SK (2nd Battalion, Suffolk Regiment) This Battalion was pretty much wiped out within the first 3 weeks of the war.

Scabbard is a super scarce Mk 1 with the internal chape. Condition is excellent, with an apparent field armoury repair down the seam, according to Ian Skennerton.

There is a N stamp on the tang which according to some sources is another inspection stamp, other sources list it as a Naval stamp.

This is a fantastic example of a rare, early pre war P07 hooked quillon bayonet, with the super scarce Mk 1 scabbard.
